My amaryllis stay in their pots, I move them around the garden that faces east. Really hot days I keep them on the porch, the intense heat degrades the blooms fast, also the porch protects them if there is brisk or greater winds.
The stalks are a little shorter outside,and some of the colors seem more intense.
