Last week I almost wept as I cut 25 bloom stalks from Batik, each with 4-5 frozen buds. Then I proceeded to trim the rest of the frozen bloom stalks from my garden. Some new iris only had one and more established had 5 or 6. I threw away several buckets full on long awaited beauty, turned to raspy cellophane-like frozen buds. After warmth encouraged growth in May, the night temperatures plunged into the 20s. So maybe I will have the long awaited show.
