Plumerias thrive here outside and there are some that are apparently native to the area. So, my guess is that it is humidity that is the problem. We rarely go below 50% humidity and the rainy season is also the hot, growing and blooming season. In fact, plumeria are called Flor de Mayo in Spanish which means flower of May. They do seem to be the most covered in blooms in May and May is the hottest and most humid month of the year.

Cindy was supposed to meet that other tropical storm from the Pacific over this part of the peninsula but, kind of as usual, they had it off center. It actually happened over the Cancun area a little to the east of us and then it headed north north/west. We are still getting monsoon rains in the afternoon, evening and sunny and hot mornings. I was on the roof laying in the sun baking a little around 3pm today and suddenly it started raining. The black clouds had snuck up on me. Right now at 4:30 thunder is rolling and crashing and it is pouring. The street is already flooded but not up to the house yet. I need to go to the store and would rather not drive through all the flooded intersections so I hope it slows down soon. We are on a big limestone rock with fissures throughout so it drains pretty quickly, when it comes down this fast though there isn't time for it to drain off.

Weather station at the airport is reporting 75°f and humidity of 96%, but then.. it is pouring rain. I'm off to go and check the pool and the pond to see if I need to pump them down. The stupid Mollies will swim out into the garden if they can and they are not always smart enough to return to the pond as it goes down.
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
