I have two additional 'thoughts':

If you grow more orchids from cuttings of your orchids, the orchids, although having the same name, will slowly evolve into something else.

If you have a very old orchid and a newer version of the same orchid, they won't necessarily be the same either because breeders are always trying to improve upon the original.
