Anna - thank you for your info. I, too, was thinking that being in a container might restrict its root growth. But I am also worried about root knot nematodes. I don't know if it could be damaged/killed by those bad nematodes since it is not typically grown in Central Florida. I have it growing on a small arbor.

Many of the plants I have success with that are not typically grown in my zone and area do well for me in containers vs. the ground. But wisteria looks like it could get pretty big if given the root room. My Wisteria is the American Wisteria. I forget the cultivar name. I believe the Chinese cultivar gets much bigger and can become invasive in the right conditions. Since mine is growing on a small arbor, I was thinking that it would stay smaller and be more compact in a container. No one here grows it, so I have nothing to compare it to.
