Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Judy--Thanks for the recognition that "SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT"---(re watering plants).
Love you for seeing things as they are....
This post will be re life at Home Depot. so you all can get an idea how things work at a HD.
If you do not want to read this--just skip over all this..

** Re Associates at HD..
They cannot choose what they want to do when scheduled in the garden.
If you are scheduled to water--it will say so on your printed out schedule.
On MY schedule--there is ALWAYS a "W" (watering) after my hours posted. SO--I am the watered no matter what. It is what I do....
OH--there are others among the newbies--but I don't know where they all
disappear to as the day goes on. Many of them have quit--too much hard work!
*************************************
yes! The lousy job of watering plants is a non-stop chore. BUT--looking at it from another angle--it is a peaceful, mindless job. Just me and the bees and the butterflies!
A peaceful time to reflect on the "job" and the beauty around me. I just do it-..

Getting the "newbies" to water correctly is a bigger chore. Not sure if they have been shown
how to water plants--I try--but that may lead to issues between people.
Need to steer clear of this kind of thing.
Mainly---You HAVE TO water each single pot on top of thesoil--NOT just sprinkle from above!
**********************************************************
As it is right now--summer, and all the jobs associated with it, are fading fast. Hours are cut! (I had two days only the last 2 weeks. Things will not pick up until the Holiday craziness hits. SO--very few hours till then. .
OHH! we still have to live through the MUMS craziness. There will be Mums everywhere--
and, I tell you, they suck up more water than anything else in a pot.

I am fortunate not to have to stress about making ends meet. I lead a simple life.
Come January and February--it will be almost NO hours. Been there--done that.... Grumbling
That is when I peck away at ALL my saved up vacation and sick days hours.
I never travel nor go anywhere. I am also seldom sick. So--I can use up some of those as well.

RE HOSES--
IF they used the best ones we have (the black, RUBBER ones--$$$) to start with--replacement expenses would be much less. But--since anyone can "go and grab a hose" if the one in use splits and leaks, they will, most likely, not "grab" the most expensive ones.

Same goes for watering wands we use (about $13 each).
There are tiny little " nubbies"in the wand's hand-grips that break very easily which nullify their use. Nothing like watering--and, all of a sudden, you have NO water. OR--the whole hose breaks and now you have TOO MUCH water and no way to stop it. I carry a small screw driver in my apron pocket--just in case I have to fix something. NOT really my job! I am NOT a plumber!!

AND--FYI--We have a 100+-foot hose (any kind Whistling ) that runs from the store, across the road to the "Corral"--which is another area that all kinds of larger flowering plants are located. Like--Trees, Hibiscus, KO roses--shrubs, Vines, etc.etc... The Corral still needs watering every day. all the shrubs and trees and tables-full of other flowering things.

Now they run the sprinkler all night (??) If I come in at 8AM--it is still running--as no one has turned it off. No one even thinks of it...***There is just SOOO much to water that you just have to do it...... Grumbling
Any cars and trucks that arrive at the gates on the garden side of the store run
across the hoses all day long. The rubber hoses may tolerate this abuse--but the so-so hoses just split and leak and have to be replaced. There goes the "Grab any hose" and replace it.
BUT--First you need to find a guy that knows how to do it.
He is probably in electrical--somewhere...

I aM NOT bitching! I love my job! I put up with the wet shoes and socks.
I sweat like a pig-- My scalp drips like I just took a shower. So I bring extra towels to wear
around my neck. and wipe my face with.
It is just a part of my every-day job Maybe that is why I have lost ~~ 12lbs over the season.

Sometimes I think......WHY do I ever fix my hair and put on some make-up to look nice????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Confused

HEY!!!! Been at HD 19 years now. I would never want to work anywhere else!!!!!!!!!

***NOTE*** NOT all HD's are the same. Management has a lot to do with it.

I feel sorry for the HD that have to keep all their plants inside. We are fortunate to, actually, have a Greenhouse.
Hope this Post provided some enlightenment on the everyday life of HD.

My "Home Away at Home" with my "Second Family".... Lovey dubby Gita
