I once asked Barry Blyth if I should wait for a heat wave to end before planting my irises and his reply was:
"Completely up to you. We plant regardless and keep damp (watered) during hot weather. Iris foliage will go pale sometimes, but will green up if watered and given a feed. If you choose not to plant, keep rhizomes cool and DRY. Iris generally flower really well after a hot summer. They appreciate the heat."
