Even a relatively inexpensive microscope may allow you to compare pollen. I purchased a microscope for somewhere in the area of $75-$100,I think, and I was trying to deduce if one of my NOIDS was a dip or TET. I put a few grains of a known dip on one part of the slide, a few grains of a known TET on the other, and the NOID pollen in the middle. It's a little tricky, but by comparing, I figured out the NoID was a dip!... With what was essentially a kid's microscope!
