Re Brugs not blooming---
From my experience and collected knowledge----read below....
For Brugs to bloom--they first have to "Y". This means that on any top growth--
the stems begin to "Y" at the top. Only after the plant has grown a "Y" or two will it make buds on the "Y-ed. stems and then bloom.
Treat your plant as you normally do--but keep an eye out for a "Y". Then--look for buds forming. Both of these brugs will blow you away with their evening fragrance.
My brugs usually start flowering sometimes in beg. of October--(my zone-is 7a).
I have 2 lg. and healthy brugs growing. These are from last year and they both
wintered over in a semi-dormant (ignored) state in my Shop cool Shop.
One is Dr. Seuss and the other is "Maya".
I keep them (as is) in my cool basement. The leaves my start dropping.
Not to worry! Once in a blue moon--I water them VERY slightly.
Dr. Seuss brugs have pointy edges to its leaves--like a X-mas cactus.
"Maya" has variegated leaves.... Whitish blotch-patterns on its leaves.
I hope someone a lot more experienced will chime in here as well.
"Donner" (Sally) is our local expert here on getting brugs to grow and flower.
Please ask her to chime in.
Good luck--and don't fuss too much. nature takes it's own course.
