Gabe, congrats on the new house! On the one hand there is a world of possibilities, starting with a more or less blank slate (after you remove all that crabgrass
). On the other hand, that clay is going to be a challenge, and some plants (and that may include the irises) you may have to put into raised beds.
Bonnie, just reading your entries exhaust me!
Lilli, 2 pots is
nothing! Last night I totaled up this season's iris acquisitions (thus far, not counting incoming gift plants), and
GULP!...
71 irises at least, only 6 of which are now in pots.
WHAT WAS I THINKING?!! (Especially as I also have to dig and pot up a whole bunch of rhizomes.)
Andrea, sorry that you, too, are going to get bogged down with the house drudgery. The end is in sight here, maybe, if I can work up the energy. (My knee hurts after yesterday, and Warp and I just got back from a walk. All I want to do is to just sit inside with a glass of iced tea and crank out the iris labels!)
But first, I just ordered some of that Silver Edged Horehound
, and I took a picture of my sole 'All Hallows Green' one, which I will post later today. (For all you drought-stricken CA folks, it really is a great plant... drought tolerant (it does need
some water), deer resistant, rabbits here won't touch it, a nice tidy well-behaved (unlike licorice plant) groundcover.... I wish I had it ages ago!)
