Libby , you can use the needles to sow with like cactus berry thorns , The spines or thorns are N-a-s-t-y- ,,!!! As all things though , finches and butterflies love them ,
Those thistles are nothing to cleaning for mulching your correct , Grasses come , and are to stay , Of course I like grasses also .
