I've been using a commercial deer repellant for years and they are very effective but smell terrible when spraying on. (I always find it ironic that we spray nasty smelling stuff on our sweet smelling blossoms).
At a recent plant swap, one of my fellow gardeners shared this recipe for a home-made deer repellant: 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon baking powder dissolved in 1 liter of water. This solution does not affect the taste of any crops and a spraying lasts for 2-3 weeks. I just tried it this week and so far the deer have stayed away.
When the world wearies and society ceases to satisfy, there is always the GARDEN
