Yardenman - There are many different types of Dracaena. Perhaps you have a different species. For Terri's, it is tall enough that short stem cuttings could be taken. New growth will emerge from each stem just below the pruning cut and grow upward from there. It won't harm the plant, although it may affect its overall symmetry.
