Autumn is a favorite season for me. Leaves change to beautiful colors and fall to the ground. Nature prepares the landscape for winter by providing grains, hickory nuts, black walnuts and acorns as food for birds and animals to feast on and store. Farmers here are very busy harvesting, transporting and storing soybeans, corn, pumpkins, apples and many other fall crops. This particular scene is one of my favorites. It shows several acres of crop land in the county where I live. It is typical of farms here locally with a diversity of grains, but primarily soybeans and corn. It is important for me to give a little information about the landscape photos that I post. In this picture there is a winding road running along a ridge about one hundred feet above the valley floor. It gives a good viewpoint in the autumn, and is even prettier in the spring when red buds and dog woods are in bloom. There are carpets of wild phlox in the wooded areas along this road in spring.
