They can be grown in a variety of medias, fir bark, orchiata bark, Aliflor, sponge rock, charcoal and sphagnum moss. I would NOT recommend moss for a beginner though. It can be tricky to deal with and hard to learn when to water a plant.Combinations of the above work too.
You can use wooden baskets, clay or plastic pots, half a coconut shell. All kinds of things. They like NO direct sun, evenly moist, never bone dry or never soggy. They like 55-85 degrees and +\- for short periods of time.
Just plunge right in and try and after 3-6 months you can post pictures and get further advice based on results indicated. But please try!
