Hi from Oregon where things are different. Here we are into harvesting everything before frost comes (Oct 4 they're saying now!) I thought I was going to have a couple more days! Corn, squash, tomatoes, green beans, onions and beets are the ones that need attention right away. The potatoes can wait, they are underground and under mulch. This week I have elephant garlic arriving, so will have to be tilling up a spot for them to get them planted asap.

I have planted tomato and lettuce seed in pots to grow in the greenhouse this winter. Last year we had greenhouse grown lettuce from Thanksgiving until some was ready in the garden. 1/2 gallon paper milk cartons with tops cut off and holes punched in the bottom make good lettuce containers that can be placed right next to each other with no wasted space. I harvested by cutting off the outside leaves. Should have planted another batch right after they started producing something we could eat.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
