I really love these plants! Every time I am anywhere with cactus, I have to look.

My BFF gave me a grafted Moon Cactus as a birthday gift about 4 years ago (she meant well). It has been a happy plant, outliving its life expectancy by a couple years. And I have loved it and taken good care of it, even though is a (cringe) parasite. I have always been suspicious that this little plant didn't really need to be a leach on another plant. So, this spring, I lopped off its head. Here is how the little guy is doing.

And here he is with the rest of my collection: Variegated is hard to come by - this group represents about 5 years worth of searching and they are not as variegated as they could be.

So, in a desperate move, I ordered variegated Gymnocalycium mihanovichii seeds on Ebay from someone here in the U.S. (I'm not even going to order from another country - I would probably end up with bird seed or something). Here is my first batch of infants - I think they are showing promising signs:
