@Aracae Forget-me-nots should do very nicely in New York. As a child i remember them growing in southwestern Alaska along with the wild onions. There were fields and fields of them. They were the first wildflowers to come up while snow was still on the ground.
As an adult, i was surprised to see them growing in tropical Mexico, but these are not wild here. They have been planted. I think the question is if you plant them in garden soil or if you will be trying to grow them indoors and/or in a container. I don't know how they would do in containers. I suspect they would do better outside the confines of a pot. If you have just sown the seeds, i would set them outside...yes, i know what the weather is like where you are :), but i think they will have a better chance of success if they are outside. Then you can see them come up through the snow when it melts.

This suggestion comes from personal observation and not from practice. Hopefully some northeastern folks will show up to share their experiences with this beautiful plant. Smiling I would love to see a photo of the seedlings breaking through the snow.
