Went out and took a few pictures of the winter garden. It was about 15°

The kale behaves like rhododendron, curling it's leaves in the most extreme cold to prevent transpiration. It'll fill back out and grow actively when temps get above freezing.

My tough little tea olives still holding onto most of their leaves. In the extreme cold and wind the most exposed leaves tend to snap at the base because the leaves are so large. As the other hedges grow in, these plants will have significantly more wind protection and will likely fair better.

Oh and this little guy is new! Pyracomeles vilmorinii planted just a month ago and still doing just fine. It's a hybrid of pyracantha and osteomeles; has the hardiness, flowering and fruiting habit of the pyracantha parent, but the unique leaf and weeping growth habit of the other. I'm hoping the fruits will be sweeter like osteomeles, making them more palatable than pyracantha.
