Today is the first day of January where we are above freezing. Not the usual sort of start to the new year in NC. My temps have been a bit cooler than Gabe's, but we had a dry freeze, followed by a couple inches of snow that didn't melt because of the below freezing temps. Lots of people left their taps dripping at night to keep their pipes from bursting as the temps dipped to about 9 degrees. Houses in the south have no insulation in the walls. My radiator pipes kept my basement and water pipes warm; except for the kitchen sink on an outside wall that needed minding.

Now the snow is melting. Need rain but, unlike Charlotte, we haven't had any yet. Going this week from 20 to almost 70. Poor plants are always so confused.
