Paul, the fall season is the perfect time to root Daphne.

I'd take cuttings where the new (green) wood meets the older (brown) wood. Use a rooting hormone of your choice and for quicker rooting keep your cuttings either on a heat mat, top of a water heater, refrigerator, etc in partial light. Perhaps you know this already so I won't go into detail.
