I've noticed that it's rare, or almost unheard-of in Web applications, to find "autocomplete" spelling, or search boxes that would let you (for example) type "Sal" and see the list of genera that have those first three letters, add a "v" and jump to Salvia.

Is that just a bug, expensive chunk of software, or does it eat up too many server resources, or what? Not worth it? I know I'm very lazy when it comes to hitting keys!
