Beauties! You're a peach for saving them.
My neighbors aren't thrilled, but I feed the sparrows and pigeons every morning. They wait on the rooftops for me to come out at 8 am, and when they see the back door open, they zoom in. They know the routine. Bread cubes on the cement bench, then wild bird seed on the driveway. There must be close to 100 of them who eat at Nancy's every morning.
Throughout the day, whenever I open the back door there's a handful of sparrows and/or pigeons waiting for me. But I've also had visits from a couple of cardinals and wrens and finches. Oh, and squirrels. But I have peanuts for them sometimes.
The pigeons have landed on the bowl in my hand sometimes. I am a sucker for most any wild creature. Just like you are.
