@mrsbart I can't offer much advice except to take cuttings and try rooting them. I have only bought the plant in this post and carnosa from HD/Lowes, but I've lost almost all of them. I was told that the soil used becomes water logged and the plants don't adapt to proper mixes or being drier. They eventually die of root rot and it can take month. I'm seeing that with my current carnosa.
