Daffodils usually protect themselves quite handily. The whole plant, especially the bulbs are toxic to garden criminal critters. I use my once forced daffodils around other bulbs, like tulips, crocus, and lilies as a sort of protective barrier with the bonus that they usually bloom again after a year outside, and in years to come.

I got my Kaydee bulbs from M & Z Bulbs (McClure & Zimmerman).
