GreenIris said:I am posting this picture in the 2017 Bloom Season thread because this pic of Cow Patty is from April of 2017. We had a lot of discussion over it because mine was So "different" - Very Yellow. I said I would pull the pics from the database until I had a chance to ask the hybridizer. I did send Mr. Burseen a letter with pics and he was gracious enough to respond. He does believe it is "Cow Patty". I don't know for sure why mine is different but the soil where I live veers towards alkaline and we have lots of minerals in our water. So who knows, but I did post it back to the database, just in case someone else has there very own "Yellow" Cow Patty. They can relax. He did say he actually really liked the color of mine. And you know, now that I know it is what it is, I have to say I like it just as it is, too.

I agree that the color of the flower depends on the acidity of the soil. But according to my long-term observations there is a much more important factor is the ambient temperature during the flowering period. The higher it is, the paler the flower.
ESPECIALLY this applies to varieties with a mixed color. The most intense coloring is when it rains and is cool.I will show by example:"Chasing Rainbows".All photos are made by me on one land plot, but under different weather conditions.
