Black Fathom Depths has been here five years. When it was first planted, it didn't do very well. Evidently, there was too much shade, so it was moved after that year, and immediately showed improvement. 2016 was an excellent year for it, a very long bloom period. This past year 2017, it was very slow in the spring, few scapes, few blooms. However, it took off in the late summer and bloomed almost into the start of fall. Certainly this was a surprise, and I will be watching this year to see what happens in the spring. The scapes do produce a lot of buds, and the flowers can be crowded when they open.
