Also, if you're like me and have no free bed space until you create it, amend the soil before the plants arrive! Or build the new raised beds.

And create sufficient drainage, like a trench leading downslope, if you dig down below grade in poorly-draining soil.

Just because it ISN'T complicated doesn't mean I can't MAKE it complicated!
