I had asked Dave what kind of day lily and he told me that he didn't think it was and asked me to post here
So I am sending along the information here.
It is planted in my backyard in Phoenix, Arizona. Has been planted since 2005. I was told by the landscape architect it was a day lily. I just didn't know what kind and was curious. I've included the following photos to help identify it.
It grows out of a very spiky and almost palm frondy type bush/shrubbery. I get flowers if I'm lucky once a year in the Jan-April period depending upon temp.
