My plain S. trifasciata on the kitchen isle did hit the ceiling, so was about 55" from pot. It was one single long leaf among all - looked weird.
then i put it out on the balcony for summer and that longest leaf bent sideways and was unmanageable. So i trimmed off the top - once they bend there's no unbending...and then i gave it away, since i needed room for other more exciting plants.
I finally re-potted that big pot in the pic of S. 'Laurentii' , ripped out all the plain shoots. and put the left-overs in a smaller pot. it has several older leaves at 48-49". the oldest really long ones were bending and i trimmed them off by a couple feet.
