Since I have clay soil, it's difficult growing plants that need excellent drainage. I amended the area with pine bark fines, decomposed granite, and a little coarse sand. The area is also slightly raised. These plants have thrived in this area. The dahlberg daisies are an annual but they survived a few nights near 10-11F.
