Bleach, no. Try vinegar instead of bleach. Some trees are worse than others, after all, the roots of a tree can take down stone and granite mountains. Identify your problem trees. Trenches will fill with roots and impermeable barriers still have a time limit. 3+feet depth just for bamboo root depths, sumac has the ability to get away from you, my sweetgums are a nightmare, but - where I am, EVERYTHING is invasive and pushy too.
