You will notice it starts to dry up and the center seam will become more noticeable. You can then gently twist it to see if it's ready to open. The date is of course approximate... it could be a few weeks more or less. I would keep an eye on it, or you can put a mesh bag or knee-hi hose over it to catch the seeds when it opens. Good luck!
