it's probably 5 or 6 years in that spot--it had a good year last year maybe after all of the snow we had last winter, it got a good long drink?

I planted another one with it at the same time and it hasn't done much since, so I really can't take any credit for getting this one to grow like that
Thankfully, most of them do take off after a while and put on a good show

I just positioned mine in hopes they don't get lost among the ground cover, hostas, and spirea. I find it an interesting woody viney plant. Your photo shows such balance among the flowers, like they are growing horizontally. That is what captured my eye.
