Sometimes there is a little microclimate happening too. I had a few "Diamond Frost" Euphorbia that is considered an annual in zone 8,. I covered it this last winter and even though we had one of the coldest winters ever, one of them came back!
Lynn, do you do anything special for the newly rooted starts that are in the garden if the weather gets very cold?
