This may seem a bit random but with the possibility that folks might lose power...several years ago I learned about something called Pykrete...I did an experiment to see if Pykrete is colder than ice. Yes, it is. (I'll spare you the details of the actual experiment.)
The easiest way to make Pykrete is to buy either Feline Pine cat litter or Equine Pine horse litter - either of these types of litter is just saw dust...mix at a ratio of approximately 14% sawdust to 86%water. I use plastic containers for this - not glass.
Place containers in the freezer. Once frozen, the Pykrete will stay frozen longer than just plain ice. Having several containers of Pykrete in the freezer at all times will keep frozen food from spoiling in the event of a power outage. You can transfer some from the freezer to the fridge to keep fresh food colder for the duration of the power outage. The containers of Pykrete also work in coolers for a picnic. Hope this helps.
