I guess I look at it a different way. I can enjoy the leaves on variegated plants for 9 months out of the year and I don't have to wait several years for them to bloom. And then have blooms last a couple of weeks. Maybe if I was in south Florida where they are winter hardy I would feel different. Regardless they are really nice plants and fun to grow.
