The one that is more rounded originally had a black rubber gasket on it, with the opening only about 2", but as you see, once the gasket got cut off, it opened it up to the metal, around a 5" space. There is just enough tilt to hold the soil and plant. I just added about 10 more, planted and watered them. Letting them settle and will get them up on the wall on the weekend. Since we know the semps love to cram into whatever space they are given, the offsets next spring will fill the spaces quite well. More photos to follow as they go up on the wall. The vents cost me about $3-$5 each at the salvage yard. New ones are $7-$12, still not bad. I screwed in the vent screening with self tapping screws and will add more when I put them on the wall, making sure the screen doesn't pop off as the roots grow. This will help my "greenhouse" as well, as this is the only wall I have that is open with lattice and by installing all of these, will finally enclose the whole space so all my winterizing plants will stay dry and warm as it was planned. I have added a solar porch light at the doorway of the house and one inside as well., These new type of solar lights by Westinghouse give off enough light that I can see plants as well as path to the house. They operate on a remote that I keep by the back door, so it only goes on when you need it. The old style solar porch lights were so dim it wasn't worth buying, but this one gives off light as if there was a 100 watt bulb in the fixture. I am solarizing all the electrical pieces to the yard. So far I have two fountains, one in a bird bath that just moves the water with a small bubbler of water, and a tower of bowls that flow into another. I am adding a below ground solar pump that will come up and bubble thru a tall drilled piece of granite rock that sits on self created terra cotta base that will then spill onto the rocks(and hidden pump) below. The second and larger solar pump will operate the water fall and 4' pond that is the final and largest project of the summer. All solar. I have secured all the pumps and parts needed for that portion. Now the planning, drawing and collecting of flora and fauna that will accompany each one. The living wall was a natrual addition to all of these already scheduled projects. It just came to me when I was at the salvage yard for something entirely different. Always have a need for semp projects...or at least I need to find an excuse for a project that includes them. The addiction has hit mass velocity... I tip my hat to you.
