I recently inherited this Philodendron (which I've tentatively identified as a Congo Rojo) from a recent college grad who kept it in a dimly lit apartment for a couple of years, but recently moved it outside into what I'm guessing was direct sun.

Its leaves seem fairly healthy, aside from a bit of sunburn, but it's incredibly leggy and shows minimal signs of growth. The Philodendron Rojo Congo images I've found online seem much more full, compact and self heading, but this one is sprawling aggressively and has developed a single large, woody trunk. Does anyone know if this is typical for this variety? If not, is there any way to save this guy?

I've had a lot of success keeping my other houseplants happy and healthy, but I'm kind of at a loss with a tropical plant this large. I really appreciate any insight you all have, and would love to get this beautiful fella back on track!
