Any mention of De la Grifferaie makes me smile. It's the only rootstock I've seen that's usually much prettier than the rose it "replaces." This one grew when a tree rose failed and I love it.



And here's another irritating thing about Dr. Huey. Gophers in my garden will run a race to any uncaged rose grafted onto Dr. Huey in my garden and chomp it up, but they never do me the courtesy of eating the remaining Huey roots, which will continue to produce canes and blooms for years and years without attracting a single gopher.
