Hetty, glad to see you posting. I'll be over to your new forum when I start moving some cactus into my front bed this winter. I don't want it to look like the desert, tho. We lived in the Tucson desert and I had a cactus garden there. Tender succulents have to be protected here. We get rain and then it freezes and thaws, and the succulents implode! We're expecting a light freeze tonight.

The Austin Cactus and Succulent Society designed and planted that cactus garden at Zilker, and they maintain it. Our garden club, The Garden Club of Austin, designed and planted the fern beds at Zilker. We just received a grant of over $13,000. to extend the fern beds from the city. The grant money came from the music festivals that are held on the park grounds.
