I just put a little in the pot, mix it into the top of the soil a little, and water. I use it when I bring things inside in fall, maybe one more time before spring or when I pot up. Once the bugs are controlled at the start, they're not a problem here in winter unless/until I bring home a new plant. Then I try to treat the new one and keep it isolated for a few days, giving the treatment time to work.
