The tree had become a hazard - large black locusts often have multiple leaders. As the tree matures the stems separate and pull away from one another. This one had separated so much that I could see the house THROUGH the trunk of the tree. Thus, the hazard designation. It was one strong storm away from coming down all on its own.
No, the brook has never overflowed. But, sometimes in the winter it will run on top of the snow and ice and make a whopping icy mess.
Keep up with it?? It's neverending and I work at it 7 days a week.

This is the tree stump. Many have been removed this season as it was becoming difficult to walk past without stepping on 'em.
