I didn't think that bothered people, I do it all of the time. I thought the reason old threads existed was so that they could be commented on and updated, rather than adding new, similar threads to the board constantly. Over the years, on many other plant forums and bulletin boards, I've seen the opposite happen frequently, where a user will drop in, start a new thread in order to ask a question and the moderator will curtly invite them to search the archives before posting.

I think there are functional and philosophical differences between reference-based discussion forums such as this one, and a social media "click-collection" platform such as Facebook, where, (I assume) topics and comments simply flow by like a stream, and the ultimate goal is stimulation.

This board has incorporated some of the common social media platform features such as emoticons and "likes" but still functions primarily as a reference tool.

Back to tall daylilies...

'Notify Ground Crew' is still my favorite, but after looking back through this thread, I think I'm going to try Autumn Minaret. I bought 'Solar Attack' last fall, but it's still a small plant.

Bremer's 'Fire Fountain' has done so well here that I also bought its sib 'Welding The Titanic'. It's registered as M-Late, and it's still blooming. With 3 buds left, I'll probably get two more weeks out of it. That's pretty late in this climate, most of what little I have left in the garden is rebloom. I can't judge the height because it's still in a 1-gallon pot, (sub 30" scape) but the flower is large, opens wide even in cool weather, and has thick substance. It's a warmer, brighter color than 'Fire Fountain'.
