Thanks for the rose photo, Susan. The plant is an amaryllis. If I had to guess which variety or cultivar, I'd say 'Apple Blossom.' The color is a bit too orangey, but there is some variation in blossoms from bulbs of the same variety as well as among the blossoms from the same bulb. These days there are so many new varieties (even double-flowered ones) that it's becoming ever more difficult to be certain of the variety if you're looking at just one blossom.
