I think he would mean centigrade Lynn, I doubt they would use fahrenheit in Japan. He says up to 60 degress, that's hot, even cooking, but he did mention they will persist in flower in very high temperatures which is what I think this means.. flowering at temps. of 35 degrees or more.

keep flowers in the Kyushu region in Japan that becomes 35 degrees or more
