My family got together last Saturday for a pre-Thanksgiving brunch to draw names for Christmas. I was at the local supermarket Friday afternoon, getting fruit and nuts for a cornucopia, when I came across a display of free gourds. I picked out six and worked them into the arrangement below. Very simple. I used a saw-tooth knife to cut a slit in the rind of each gourd to hold the place card. The card itself is a snippet from an illustration I found on the Web. The leaves with the gourds are left overs from an old fall arrangement. So it cost me nothing except the paper and ink for the cards. (I shared this in the Garden Art Forum as well.)
Gardener was the label imprinted on me when the souls were handed out and so be it. --Margaret Roach (Thank you, Sharon!) Notes from the Garden: Articles of interest on all aspects of gardening Cottage-in-the-Meadow Gardens: Come on in and take the tour! Check out the photos!
