At last night's iris club meeting, one of the members indicated that she saw white powder right on top of the iris rhizomes at one of the iris vendors last year at the national iris convention tour. She asked what that was, and they said it was lime put their to prevent rot. I think I might try that on a couple of my most affected beds just to see what happens. I have a couple varieties that I've had for along time that have never bloomed, just rotted off every spring. Couldn't get much worse, so why not try it on them. Shrug!
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
