None of the ads on Garden.org should ever show popups like that. If you see it again on this site, please take a screenshot and post it here.
That screenshot is NOT garden.org, because the spam is pushing our systems/Safari to a Spam AD. You cannot backup from it. You have to close down and erase. The problem DOES originate from this site somehow. You are not the only site that has this problem, however someone should be looking into it and finding a remedy for the issue... Not being dismissive or defensive.
I have the exact same problem on my IPad, I'm still trying to resolve the issue.
