The so-called "Garlic Chive" is neither related to garlic in any sense (Allium sativum), nor vaguely related to chives (Allium schoenoprasum with hollow leaves and a well known garden herb), it's funny how common names can be so utterly misleading. Allium tuberosum is the species we're talking about here, and The Onion Man declares (me, my given moniker after specializing in 46+ years specializing in the genus Allium, approx. 1000 species) that Allium tuberosum can be invasive, with deep fibrous roots that resist pulling out by hand, there are far better species than this very aggressively self-seedling one.
